The Five Major Religions Hinduism, Christianity, And Islam

John Hick in his essay as parallelism think that all religions are true and that they are only different routes to God or the Real to find salvation. The religions have same similarities and some areas of conflict that Hick explain with his theory of Pluralism. Pluralism is when more than one religion is true. In the last section of the essay, Hick explain the move of Christians from being exclusive to inclusive. In this period of globalization and diversity, Pluralism is the way communities with different cultures, traditions, and religions manage to live together in a country of immigration like the US. The five major religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all path to salvation. The similarities within these religions are that they have an Ultimacy which can be personal as the Yahweh, Heavenly Father, Allah, Vishnu and Shiva or non-personal as Brahman, and Dharmakaya. They have also compassion and among humans in commun which if practice â€Å"this basic principle, taught by all major faiths, there will be no injustice, no avoidable suffering, and the human family would everywhere live in peace† (Hick 57). Historical facts of each religion are not in contradiction too. Each one has its book or references. It is good to ask what united us than what divided; nevertheless, they are some points of disaccord. Salvation is the goal of all faiths.
